Building Dreams: Introduction to the Trades Industry Night

Dr. Kem Smith, Representative-Elect for Missouri House District 68, is excited to announce "Building the Future: Introduction to the Trades Industry Night," a free event tailored for high school juniors and seniors interested in exploring career opportunities in the trades.

As industries across Missouri and nationwide experience increased demand for skilled trades professionals, this event aims to connect students with hiring managers and industry experts from various trade sectors. Representatives from local unions, including the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Plumbers and Pipefitters, Mid-America Carpenters, Sprinkler Fitters, and United Auto Workers will be present to offer insights and answer questions about career pathways, apprenticeships, and the application process within their fields.

Dr. Smith, a dedicated advocate for educational and career advancement opportunities for young people in her district, sees this event as an essential step in helping students build strong, viable futures. “The trades offer rewarding careers with good wages and growth potential, but many students simply don’t know how to get started,” said Dr. Smith. “This event is about giving our students a direct line to professionals who can guide them and help them take the first steps toward a fulfilling career in the trades.”

During "Building the Future," students will have the opportunity to:

  1. Engage with hiring managers from various trades

  2. Discover the requirements and training needed to enter these fields

  3. Learn about apprenticeships and other entry-level pathways

  4. Network and gain valuable insights for their career planning

Date: November 20, 2024
Time: 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Campaigns need volunteers for several crucial reasons. Volunteers are the backbone of any political campaign, providing the essential manpower required to reach out to voters, spread the candidate’s message, and ensure smooth operations.

Here are some specific reasons why volunteers are so vital:

  1. Grassroots Outreach: Volunteers help with door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and distributing flyers, enabling campaigns to connect directly with voters and understand their concerns.

  2. Community Engagement: Volunteers often come from the community, making them relatable and effective at engaging with local voters, building trust, and fostering a sense of community involvement.

  3. Events and Fundraising: Organizing events, managing fundraising activities, and handling logistics require a dedicated team of volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly.

  4. Social Media and Communications: Volunteers help manage social media accounts, create content, and engage with the online community, amplifying the campaign’s reach and visibility.
